Sappho with a Harp, 1925

This work represents Sappho, the ancient Greek poetess.

Like most of Bourdelle's works, it is inspired by ancient sculpture through its pursuit of order, harmony, and measure.

Note that the iron base on wheels is a creation by Jean Tinguely, a renowned artist and sculptor famous for his animated machines.
