This work marks the beginning of the series Variations on a Form and a Few Others (1981–1984), composed of sculptures cast from pieces of plastic, from which fragments of abdomens and backs emerge.

This Ingres-inspired motif reveals its full sensuality through a suggested form and the smooth rendering of the surface.
