Stacking Tree pots
Sou Fujimoto, 2014
Polystyrene
This scale model explores themes important to Fujimoto : caves, nests and alternation between fullness and emptiness, in an aerial structure of complex appearance. The offsetting of each cube to the others makes this model a modulable yet protective space.Sou Fujimoto attempts to translate and transpose the multiplicity and diversity of human interactions in their daily habitat. The placement of plants in the structure is also a recurring theme of contemporary Japanese architecture, especially in Fujimoto’s work, entertaining an intimate relationship to nature.
